Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Since 1970 Esperan?a, Inc. has successfully served the poor of the developing world in over fourteen countries. Presently, our surgical missions are traveling to Tarija, Bolivia and surrounding communities

Each volunteer must pay for their own travel expenses, including air travel and lodging in transit, and any emergency travel or evacuation insurance. A volunteer can expect to spend $1100-$2000 on their travel expenses. Volunteers are also asked to gather materials/supplies used in the general course of their surgical specialty. Esperanca, Inc. pays for all lodging and meals during the surgical mission in Bolivia. Esperanca also pays the associated costs of the 40+ surgeries each team performs ($5000).

Each team includes an anesthesiologist (or CRNA), surgeon, and an OR nurse or technician. We are currently sending general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons (including peds), GYN surgeons, urology surgeons, and ophthalmology surgeons to Bolivia for 1-2 week surgical missions.

The Esperan?a, Inc. Volunteer Surgical Program is unique among traveling volunteer physician programs. Our model is to work within existing medical systems, in the host country, and rely upon our in-country partner organization and local professionals to administer the volunteer experience.
